Salina Cruz is not a required stop on every route to Chiapas. Depending on your itinerary, reaching the city and the hotel involves a detour. It makes sense if you want to spend a night near the Pacific; if getting to Chiapas as quickly as possible is your priority, compare a direct journey with the overnight option first.

Check the services available on your date, the arrival terminal and whether your chosen bus calls at Salina Cruz. A through-ticket to Chiapas should not be treated as permission to get off for a night and rejoin the service the next day.
Ask the operator whether you need two separate tickets to make your stopover. For ADO and its associated services, check the official booking website rather than relying on old fares or timetables in travel posts.
Plan the transfer from the bus terminal as well. Casa Mirador is in the El Mirador neighbourhood, above the city, so a taxi or vehicle is the practical choice for the final stretch with luggage. Check the hotel location before arriving.

There is no single journey time that fits every traveller. Your route, traffic, roadworks, stops and choice of transport all affect the schedule. Also check your final destination carefully: arriving in Tuxtla Gutiérrez is not the same as arriving in San Cristóbal de las Casas.
